Hiya! My name is Amy Petrucci. I’m a longtime herbivore and creator of Compassionate Chic. I originally sought a profession in the historical realm (I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History). I spent most of my time studying, interning, and working.
As time went on, I found myself pulling away from archives and became interested in creative forms of expression.
My foray into makeup was a little unorthodox. To be honest, makeup never interested me until I was in my early twenties. I was working for a large cruelty-free company that released a makeup line, and that’s when the proverbial bug bit me. Playing with color became a way for me to relax and have fun. As I attended training sessions held by my employer then, I learned about the unethical and horrific practices carried out in the beauty industry.
My love for animals has always been constant in my life. I couldn’t understand why anyone would think it’s ok to mistreat animals in order to have a pretty lipstick. That’s when I felt a great pull to this cause. Plus, playing with makeup and saving animals is kind of cool. This blog aims to raise awareness about animal testing and promote the cruelty-free lifestyle.
I’m also a former expat, cinephile, history nerd, avid reader, mediocre runner, animal snuggler, and professional napper. I’m a part-time thespian and have performed in several productions over the past few years. I live in New England with my husband and fur babies, Mittens and Dahlia.
