Review: MyChelle Dermaceuticals – Clear Skin Pore Refiner

Amy Petrucci 2 min read

I first stumbled across the Clear Skin Pore Refiner by MyChelle Dermaceuticals whilst browsing the skincare aisle at Whole Foods about four months ago. The product claims to minimize surface shine, refine pores, tighten, and mattify skin. I was a bit hesitant to give it a go because of my temperamental combo and acne-prone skin. No matter what I did, I couldn’t seem to shake the sebaceous filament on my nose and cheeks. The project claims intrigued me enough that I decided to take the plunge and purchase a bottle hoping I would make it through unscathed and with a less bumpy nose.

Product Description:

MyChenelle, Dermaceuticals, cruelty free, beauty, product review

“Minimize surface shine and refine pores with our exclusive NatureClear Complex™—a combination of Dermasyr Lilac Stem Cells, Yogurtene (a prebiotic), Grape Stem Cells, and Aloesin for a perfect oil-free, matte finish. Use alone or under make-up to blur the appearance of fine lines and imperfections for a more even skin tone and texture. Made without GMO, Gluten, Parabens, Petroleum, Phthalates, Silicones, Sulfates, Ureas, Artificial Fragrances, and Artificial Colors. Vegetarian. Cruelty-free.

I applied two pumps of the serum after cleansing and toning, once a day, four times a week. After several months of use and finishing up an entire bottle, I am happy to report that I have seen a significant change in my skin. My pores are more refined and smooth. I have less filament build up in the central panel of my face which has helped my makeup application glide on with ease and prevented me from picking at the uneven texture.

MyChelle Dermaceuticals is a clean, natural brand that offers botanically based skin care products. The company is also a founding member of the EWG VERIFIED™ mark to easily identify products that meet a certain criteria for transparency and health. They also have skincare regimen suggestions for several skin concerns in a user-friendly, step-by-step format on their website. All of their products are vegetarian and they offer a lot of vegan options. Their vegan list can be found here. The Clear Skin Pore Refiner is not vegan because it contains yogurt extract and milk protein. I do consider this to be a con of the product. Dairy and skin care seem to be an odd combination to me.

This product is:

  • Green
  • Vegetarian
  • 1 fl oz / 30 mL
  • $28.00

Things to be mindful of:

  1. While the price of the bottle is $28.00 it is on the lower price-point for a natural skincare brand. Competitors in the green market list some serums at $60-$150 per bottle.
  2. This serum can be drying for those who do not have oily skin. Use less frequently if combo or dry, and remember to follow with a moisturizer.
  3. It does contain dairy. Those with sensitivities should proceed with caution.

Final Thoughts: I would absolutely consider purchasing this serum again. I am interested in trying some other ones out in the meantime. I am, however, interested in trying out some other products in their Oily/Blemish line.

I created this site to show that anyone can make a difference, big or small, by the purchases they make. Saving animals and playing with makeup is just really cool, too.
